Indian Railways is making extraordinary arrangements to facilitate easier travel of pilgrims and tourists visiting the Kumbh Mela 2019 in Prayagraj (Allahabad). Additionally, to decongest the Allahabad junction area during the Shahi Snan dates, Skywalk is built connecting the main foot over bridges. Among other measures, Indian Railways, as a special case, has decided to allow 15 days advance booking of unreserved railway tickets from 12 stations under the Allahabad region.
Railway official Rajiv Chaudhry, GM, NCR, has informed that the stations serving the Kumbh Mela regions and from which advance booking of unreserved tickets shall be allowed include Allahabad junction, Allahabad City, Naini, Subedarganj, Prayag, Prayag Ghat, Daraganj, Phaphamau, Jhusi, Vindhyachal, Allahabad Chheoki and back.
The return tickets shall be allowed to be booked up to 15 days in advance excluding the date of the journey. However, NO refund shall be allowed on such return tickets. This facility will be available to railway passengers for tickets purchased on or after 11 January up to 6 March 2019.
For Prayagraj Kumbh Mela 2019, Indian Railways is planning to run over 100 special trains from across the country to smooth pilgrim’s movement. Details of specials trains for Kumbh Mela 2019 will be made available soon in www.KumbhOnline.com
