Over five thousand delegates of Pravasi Bhartiya Divas (PBD) are scheduled to attend the holy Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj just after the closure of the event on 23rd January 2019 in Varanasi. The Indian Railways, which has the responsibility of providing transport facility to PBD delegates from Prayagraj to Delhi, has drawn up detail plan for special trains along facility to serve best of local cuisine. The delegation will attend the 70th Republic Day Parade on 26th January. The PBD event in PM Narendra Modi’s constituency Varanasi, holy snan in Kumbh Mela and participation of the delegates in Republic Day Parade has special significance considering the upcoming general elections.
The PBD event, which culminates every year on January 9 – marking the day Mahatma Gandhi arrived from South Africa in 1915 – has been shifted to 21-23 January this time to give delegates a chance to participate in Kumbh Mela (beginning on January 15) and Republic Day (January 26)
The Indian Railways has designed an en-route map to carry the delegates who will first attend the PBD event in Varanasi, then travel by bus for Kumbh snan in Prayagraj and then travel to Delhi by special AC trains for the Republic Day parade.
Indian Railways has earmarked at least four special AC trains for over 5,000 delegates who are expected to participate in the 15th edition of three-day global meet that is being held for the first time in the holy city of Varanasi. Keeping the VIP guests in mind, the IRCTC the caterer of Indian Railways will provide local cuisine which includes kachori sabzi, aloo puree and sweets like Patisha, will be on offer for the delegates. While best quality tea, coffee and beverages will be served, there will also be continental, tandoori and chinese food will be on offer for dinner.
The PBD delegates includes NRIs, PIOs who will take a dip at Triveni Sangam in Prayagraj and get a taste of mesmerising experience of spirituality. Delegation will also see bare-bodied Naga Sadhus smeared with ash and evening ganga aarti (prayer).
