The Prime Minister Narendra Modi was always a staunch supporter of Yoga and believed in its benefits. He truly inspired people of the country when Modi himself came on Yoga mats and created history by having millions as his followers. Eventually the United Nations declared June 21 as International Yoga Day to engage the world into benefits of Yoga in the modern life -style .
He gave slogan on the International Yoga day ,” Yoga is the journey from me to we.”
Then, let us find out what is Yoga?
Yoga is nothing but the science of self-realisation. The word ‘yoga’ is derived from the Sanskrit term ‘yuj’ means to connect. This involves a series of asanas, physical stretches, breathing exercises and techniques to relax and focus the mind. There are many kinds of yoga – Hatha Yoga, Tantra Yoga, Kriya Yoga, Raja Yoga (of Patanjali), Kundalini Yoga, Sankhya Yoga, Tattwa Yoga and many more.
Yoga, is in fact a way of life. It helps you involve yourself in spiritual study, healthy relationships, meditation, positive thinking and a satvik diet.
That sounds great. But why should one follow it?
Regular practice of Yoga has been known to keep away heart and respiratory problems. It also contributes to an overall feeling of well-being and satisfaction. It also helps in reducing stress and anxiety which is a bonus altogether. The Yoga lifestyle can also make one look more toned and fit and help move with greater ease, especially as one grows older. As is with all good things in life, the process of Yoga and achieving results is slow, but rewarding.
Now millions are following the practice in their offices also. The several government organisations have started giving a brief account of Yoga and its effects on body and mind.
